CHAPTER 6
THE WHOLE EQUATION
THE GOOD "AGATHOS" LAW
ONLY 1 is GOOD "AGATHOS"
Matthew 22
36 "Teacher, which is
the great commandment in THE LAW?"
37 And He said to him,
“You shall LOVE The Lord your God
with all your heart and
with all your soul and
with all your mind.
38 This is the GREAT and FIRST commandment.
39 And a SECOND is like it:
You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments hang
ALL THE LAW AND PROPHETS.
Q:
Why does The Messiah sum
ALL Commandments into
2 Commandments in
Matthew 22:36-40?
A:
The Messiah was simply quoting “LOVE” from His own Torah:
The First Commandment:
Deuteronomy 6
5 You shall LOVE YeHoVaH your God
with all your heart and
with all your soul and
with all your might.
The Second Commandment:
Leviticus 19
18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself: I am YeHoVaH
Key Question:
Then which Law is
the “LOVE” that The Messiah taught
by quoting from His Torah in
Matthew 22:36-40,
Deuteronomy 6:5, and
Leviticus 19:18?
A:
Matthew 19
16 And behold,
a man came up to Him, saying,
"Teacher, what
—>GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS]
must I DO to have Eternal Life?"
17 And He said to him,
“Why do you ask me about what is
—>GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS]?
—>ONLY ONE is
—>GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS].
Therefore,
IF you desire to enter LIFE,
KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS."
18 He said to Him,
—>”WHICH ONES?"
And Yeshua said,
“YOU SHALL NOT MURDER,
YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,
YOU SHALL NOT STEAL,
YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS,
19 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER,
and so You shall
LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself."
A:
The 10 Commandments are
The Law of LOVE in
Matthew 19:16-19.
KEYNOTE:
“GOOD” in
Matthew 19:17 refers to
“ἀγαθός, Agathos” in Greek—
AND THERE IS ONLY
ONE, or “εἷς”, that is
“GOOD”, or “ἀγαθός”,
according to The Messiah in
Matthew 19:17.
agathos: good
Original Greek: ἀγαθός, ή, όν
Part of Speech: Adjective
Definition: good
Usage: intrinsically good, good in nature.
heis: one
Original Greek: εἷς, μία, ἕν
Part of Speech: Adjective
Definition: one
Usage: one.
NOTE:
After the man asked The Messiah
WHICH Commandments to keep in
Matthew 19:18,
The Messiah answered by listing from
THE ONE GOOD LAW,
The 10 Commandments.
NOTE:
After asking The Messiah what
GOOD “AGATHOS” he must
DO to have Eternal Life,
The Messiah reminds Him that
Only ONE is GOOD “AGATHOS”,
and then commands Him to keep
The 10 Commandments.
NOTE:
The Messiah shows that
The 10 Commandments
sum together in order to
LOVE God and
LOVE our Neighbor.
Paul understands this summation:
Romans 13
8 Owe no one anything, except to
LOVE each other,
for the one who
LOVES another has
FULFILLED THE LAW.
9 For THE COMMANDMENTS,
"You shall not commit adultery,
You shall not murder,
You shall not steal,
You shall not covet,"
AND ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT, are
SUMMED up in this word:
"You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself."
10 LOVE does no wrong to a neighbor;
therefore
LOVE IS
THE FULFILLING OF THE LAW.
NOTE:
GOOD Love is...
The SUMMATION of God’s Law
(10 Commandments),
NOT THE SUBSTITUTION.
The PRODUCT of
The 10 Commandments,
NOT the PROXY.
The CULMINATION of
The 10 Commandments,
NOT the CANCELLATION.
The AMBITION of
The 10 Commandments,
NOT the ABOLITION.
The INSTRUCTION of
The 10 Commandments,
NOT the DESTRUCTION.
DOING The 10 Commandments,
NOT DISMISSING them.
The FULFILLING of
The 10 Commandments,
NOT FORBIDDING them.
Paul continues
Upholding and Establishing
The 10 Commandments:
Romans 7
12 So indeed THE LAW IS HOLY,
AND THE COMMANDMENT IS
HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS AND
GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS].
KEYNOTE:
Paul testifies in
Romans 7:12 with The Messiah in
Matthew 19:17 that not only is
The Law Holy and Righteous, but also
GOOD “ἀγαθός, AGATHOS”!!!
Romans 7
13 Did that which is
GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS] then,
BECOME DEATH TO ME?
BY NO MEANS!
BUT RATHER
THE SIN IS WORKING DEATH,
in order to shed light on SIN
by reason of that which is
GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS] to me,
so that the SIN might become
SINFUL beyond measure
by reason of the commandment.
Romans 6
23 For the wages of SIN IS DEATH,
BUT THE FREE GIFT OF GOD
IS ETERNAL LIFE
in The Messiah Yeshua our Lord.
NOTE:
We did not pay for
The 10 Commandments,
The Messiah freely gave them to us.
We did not pay for The Bread of Life,
The Messiah freely gave it to us.
We did not pay for The Living Water,
The Messiah freely gave it to us.
We still must eat The Bread
to receive The Life it gives us.
We still must drink The Water,
to receive The Life it gives us.
We still must do The 10 Commandments,
to receive The Eternal Life it gives us.
For God Himself IS
THE GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS] LAW
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS HIMSELF.
Q:
Are we able to keep
The GOOD [AGATHOS] LAW of
The 10 Commandments?
A:
2 Corinthians 9
8 And God is able to make
ALL GRACE abound to you,
—>SO THAT
HAVING ALL SUFFICIENCY
IN ALL THINGS
AT ALL TIMES,
YOU MAY ABOUND IN EVERY
GOOD [ἀγαθός, AGATHOS] WORK.
9 As it is written,
“He has distributed FREELY,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever."
10 He who supplies SEED to The Sower
and BREAD for food
will supply and multiply your
seed for sowing and increase
the harvest of your righteousness.
Let us abound in
The GOOD [AGATHOS] LAW of
The 10 Commandments, for this is
Eternal Life Himself.
Shalom (Peace)
